How to Participate
Everything you need to know to vote for your favourite Prince songs and share your Top 20 with the community.
On April 21, 2016, the world lost Prince Rogers Nelson. Ten years later, the a music blog community is celebrating his legacy by building a community-curated Top 20 of his greatest songs.
Browse the full Prince playlist, pick your favourites, share your selection, and see what the community votes as the ultimate Prince catalogue.
- Go to the home page — the full Prince playlist is listed there.
- Click Select next to any song to add it to your Top 20.
- You can pick up to 20 songs. The counter at the top tracks your progress.
- Click Unselect to remove a song from your list.
- Your selections are saved automatically as you go.
You can also vote directly from the Results page or from other people's shared playlists.
Click any song title to open a quick YouTube preview in a modal.
Use the Play My Top N button (on the home page or Your Top 20 page) to open the full YouTube player and listen to your selections back-to-back.
The Play Full Playlist button on the home page lets you listen to the entire Prince catalogue without leaving the site.
- Click Your Top 20 in the navigation to see your selected songs ranked.
- Use the Copy button to get a shareable link to your playlist.
- Send the link to friends — they can view your picks, listen, and even borrow songs for their own Top 20.
- You can also change your anonymous User ID from this page if you want a custom name.
- Click Community Playlists to browse Top 20s shared by other fans.
- Click View Playlist to see someone's full selection.
- Heart icons show which songs you have in common with the playlist owner.
- You can add songs from their list directly to your own Top 20.
- Click Results to see the community's collective vote, sorted by popularity.
- Each song shows how many votes it has received across all participants.
- You can select or unselect songs directly from the results page.
- Heart icons highlight songs you've already chosen.
You can vote anonymously, but a free account gives you extra benefits:
- Cross-device sync — access your votes from any browser or device.
- Permanent history — your votes are tied to your account, not your browser.
- Display name — set a name that appears on your shared playlist.
- Suggest songs — logged-in users can submit YouTube links to add missing Prince songs to the playlist.
Click Login in the header and select "Create one for free" to sign up.
- Your identity is stored in your browser — no account needed to vote.
- If you switch browsers, devices, or clear your cache, you will lose access to your anonymous votes.
- To keep your votes safe across sessions, create a free account and log in.
